How do I allow access to the camera and microphone for my mobile devices?

Safari on iOS

To have a virtual visit with video on iOS devices, you need to provide access to your camera and microphone.

To sign in as a patient if your camera and mic are blocked:

  1. Open your Website Settings from the check-in screen
  2. Ensure your camera and microphone are set to Allow
  3. Select Done, and refresh the tab before checking in again
  4. You’re ready to start a virtual visit!

On iOS 13 and higher, you can make it so the camera and microphone are enabled by default:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Scroll down and open the Safari tab
  3. Ensure your camera and microphone are set to Allow
  4. Ensure that the Request Desktop Site option is turned off
  5. You’re ready to start a virtual visit!

Chrome on Android

How to allow a website to access your camera:

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app.
  2. Go to where the site wants to use your microphone and camera.
  3. When prompted, tap Allow
    • Allowed sites: Sites can start to record when you're on the site. If you're using a different Chrome tab or a different app, a site can't start recording.
    • Blocked sites: Some sites won't work if you block them. For example, you won't be able to join a video conference.

How to change a site's camera & microphone permissions:

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app .
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap More Settings (Three dots to the right of the address bar).
  3. Tap Site Settings.
  4. Tap Microphone or Camera.
  5. Tap to turn the microphone or camera on.
    • If you see that HealthTap.com is under Blocked, tap the site Access your microphone Allow.

If you’ve turned off microphone access on your device, you can control your app permissions on Android to use your mic. If you're using a Chrome device at work or school, your network administrator can set camera and microphone settings for you. In that case, you can't change them here.
